French authorities have arrested multiple suspects linked to the daring jewel theft at the Louvre Museum in Paris, just a week after robbers made off with royal treasures worth over $100 million.

According to local reports, two men in their 30s from the Seine-Saint-Denis area were detained on October 25. One of them was reportedly caught at Charles de Gaulle Airport while trying to leave the country. Officials have not confirmed whether the stolen jewels have been recovered.

Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau criticized the leaks about the arrests, saying they could interfere with the ongoing investigation, which currently involves around 100 officers.

The French interior minister praised the police for their swift action, promising that the investigation would continue “with the same determination.”

The robbery, which took place on October 19, saw thieves climb a ladder to a second-floor window of the Louvre’s Apollo Gallery. In just seven minutes, they smashed display cases and escaped on motorbikes with eight priceless pieces once owned by 19th-century French royalty, including sapphire and emerald sets and two tiaras.

The incident has drawn sharp criticism over the museum’s security lapses, with officials admitting that several cameras were not properly monitoring the building’s perimeter.
