Two powerhouse performers, Claire Danes and Ewan McGregor, are officially teaming up for The Spot, a dark new Hulu drama from acclaimed writer-producer Ed Solomon (Bill & Ted, No Sudden Move). The series is being produced by A24, the studio behind Euphoria and Beef, in collaboration with 20th Television.
Originally developed with Kate Winslet attached to star and executive produce, The Spot made waves in 2024 when Hulu gave it a straight-to-series order after a highly competitive bidding process. Winslet later exited the project in mid-2025 due to creative differences, paving the way for Danes to step into the lead role. After several months of negotiations, McGregor joined the cast shortly thereafter.
A Marriage Tested by Guilt and Secrets
The Spot centers on a respected surgeon, played by Danes, and her husband, a devoted schoolteacher portrayed by McGregor. Their seemingly stable marriage begins to unravel when they start to suspect that she may have been involved in a child’s tragic hit-and-run accident. What begins as a desperate search for the truth spirals into a tense psychological mystery filled with suspicion, deception, and buried secrets.
Creator Ed Solomon will serve as showrunner and executive producer alongside Robin Sweet and Ariel Kleiman, who is also set to direct. Production on the series is expected to begin in 2026.
Star Power Meets Prestige Production
This marks another high-profile television project for Claire Danes, who recently earned an Emmy nomination for her performance in FX’s Fleishman Is in Trouble and will next appear in Netflix’s upcoming limited series The Beast Inside Me, opposite Matthew Rhys. Danes remains best known for her Emmy-winning role as CIA officer Carrie Mathison in Showtime’s hit thriller Homeland.
Ewan McGregor, meanwhile, continues his strong streak in prestige TV following A Gentleman in Moscow and his Emmy-winning turn in Netflix’s Halston. On the film side, McGregor will soon appear opposite Anne Hathaway in Warner Bros.’ sci-fi thriller Flowervale Street.
A24 and Hulu Continue Winning Partnership
With The Spot, Hulu strengthens its growing partnership with A24, known for blending cinematic storytelling with bold character-driven narratives. Given the pedigree of its stars, creator, and production team, The Spot is already shaping up to be one of Hulu’s most anticipated dramas of 2026.
