On Friday, Vance shared a photo and video of his costume on social media — dressing up as none other than the viral “fat JD” meme that’s been circulating online for months.
Wearing a curly brown wig and flashing an exaggerated grin, Vance recreated the meme that originally mocked his expression during a February meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. In the clip, Vance opens a door and cheerfully says, “Happy Halloween — and remember to say thank you,” before spinning around as The Twilight Zone theme plays in the background.
The meme, born from that tense exchange where Vance asked Zelensky if he’d “ever said thank you once,” has since become a recurring internet punchline. But instead of ignoring it, the vice president decided to own it — earning laughs and plenty of likes online.
Conservative host Benny Johnson had teased the costume a day earlier, calling Vance “our first meme-lord vice president.” Looks like he wasn’t wrong.
