Marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge is set to make his debut at the TCS New York City Marathon, aiming to earn his sixth and final Abbott World Marathon Major star. The Kenyan athlete, already a two-time Olympic gold medalist and multiple world record holder, said completing all six major marathons will be the ultimate highlight of his career.
“Chasing that Six Star will cement my legacy and make me a true all-round marathoner,” Kipchoge told reporters ahead of Sunday’s race.
He will join over 400 runners achieving the Six Star milestone in Central Park. Excited about New York’s vibrant atmosphere, Kipchoge said he’s been enjoying local bagels and looks forward to feeling the city’s famous crowd energy.
“My celebration is to meet other Six Star finishers, shake hands, and inspire a running world,” he added.
