Amazon Recalls 500,000 Products Over Safety Hazards: Fans, Baby Loungers & More

Amazon has yanked nearly half a million products from its marketplace in recent weeks following urgent safety recalls, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recalled items — ranging from portable fans that can ignite to infant loungers that pose suffocation risks — highlight growing concerns about unsafe imports flooding online shelves.

The Biggest Recalls on Amazon

Buddy Portable Misting Fans

  • Manufacturer: IcyBreeze Cooling
  • Units recalled: 22,600 sold between Nov 2023 – Aug 2024
  • Reason: Lithium-ion batteries can overheat and catch fire.
  • Incidents: Seven overheating reports, including two fires.

Baby Loungers by LXDHSTRA

  • Units recalled: Thousands sold from May – Aug 2025
  • Reason: Unsafe design with low sides, overly thick sleeping pads, and wide openings that create a suffocation hazard.
  • Status: Recalled Sept. 18, 2025.

Crib Bumpers by LXDHSTRA

  • Reason: Violate the Safe Sleep for Babies Act, banned due to suffocation risks.
  • Injuries: None reported to date.

Why This Matters for Parents and Shoppers

The recalls underscore the dangers of cheap, mass-imported goods slipping through safety checks. Many of the recalled products were marketed for infants and children — raising the stakes when design flaws can mean fire or suffocation.

What To Do If You Own a Recalled Product

  • Stop using it immediately.
  • Check the CPSC recall database to confirm model and batch numbers.
  • Contact the manufacturer or Amazon for refund or replacement instructions.
