The first teaser for Christopher Nolan’s long-awaited film The Odyssey has finally arrived, giving audiences a dramatic glimpse into his take on Homer’s legendary tale. Starring Matt Damon as the Greek hero Odysseus, the film promises a sweeping, visually intense journey filled with danger, loss, and determination.
The teaser opens with a weathered and battle-worn Odysseus struggling to find his way home after the Trojan War. Shipwrecks, violent storms, and shadowy monsters stand in his path as he leads what remains of his army across land and sea. Nolan’s signature style is clear throughout — grand visuals, minimal dialogue, and an atmosphere heavy with tension.
Alongside Damon, the film features an impressive ensemble cast. Anne Hathaway appears as Penelope, Odysseus’ loyal wife, while Tom Holland plays their son, Telemachus. Brief moments in the teaser also hint at the larger cast, including Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, and others, though their roles remain mostly under wraps.
One of the most striking moments shows Odysseus and his men hidden inside the Trojan horse, tying the story back to the end of the war that started his long journey. Other scenes tease encounters in dark caves and vast oceans, suggesting that mythical threats like monstrous creatures and divine obstacles will play a major role.

Universal has described The Odyssey as a global production, filmed across multiple locations using cutting-edge IMAX technology. Nolan reportedly used an enormous amount of film stock to capture the scale of the story, aiming to create an immersive cinematic experience unlike anything seen before.
Following the massive success of Oppenheimer, which earned Nolan multiple Oscars, expectations are extremely high. Actors involved in the project have praised Nolan’s hands-on approach, comparing him to an independent filmmaker working on an epic budget.
The Odyssey is set to arrive in theaters on July 17, marking Nolan’s first full dive into mythological storytelling — and if the teaser is any indication, audiences can expect a powerful, intense, and unforgettable voyage home.
