Philadelphia Rock Radio Legend Pierre Robert Dies at 70

RIP Pierre Robert

Philadelphia has lost a true icon. Beloved WMMR host Pierre Robert, one of the most recognizable voices in local rock radio, has passed away at the age of 70. He was found at his home on Wednesday, according to WMMR’s parent company, Beasley Media Group. Authorities said no foul play is suspected.

Robert joined WMMR in 1981 and quickly became a cornerstone of the station’s identity, known for his deep love of music, warmth, and connection with listeners. His popular segments like Noontime Workforce Blocks and Pierre’s Vinyl Cut became daily rituals for generations of rock fans.

Beyond the studio, Robert was deeply involved in the community, supporting causes like the AIDS Walk and Manna’s Pie in the Sky fundraiser. His contributions were honored in 2019 when he earned a place on the Philadelphia Music Alliance Walk of Fame.

“Pierre’s passion for music and the people of Philadelphia made him truly one of a kind,” said Beasley Media Group CEO Caroline Beasley. “He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.”
