Sam’s Club Extends Sunday Hours in Michigan — Here’s How Late You Can Shop

Sam’s Club Extends Sunday Hours

If you’re used to rushing through your Sunday shopping trip, here’s some welcome news — Sam’s Club is giving Michigan shoppers more time to browse the aisles.

Starting Sunday, October 12, all Sam’s Club stores across the state will open earlier and close later, running from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The change adds two extra shopping hours compared to the previous Sunday schedule of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

According to Steven Zapata, director of corporate communications at Sam’s Club, the update comes directly from member feedback. “Our members told us they wanted more flexibility on Sundays — and we listened,” he said.

Longer Hours for All Michigan Locations

The new schedule applies to all 23 Sam’s Club warehouses in Michigan, including locations in Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids, and Traverse City.

Here’s what the new hours look like:

Curbside Pickup: 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Plus Member Shopping: 8 a.m. – 9 a.m.

Club Shopping (All Members): 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Café: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Fuel Station: 6 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Plus Members, who hold the retailer’s premium membership, will continue to enjoy early shopping privileges from 8 to 9 a.m. each day before doors open to all members.

Extended Hours on Select Holiday

Sam’s Club is also making holiday shopping a bit easier. Stores will now stay open until 8 p.m. on Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, and New Year’s Eve.

However, shoppers should note that stores will still close early at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve, and will remain closed on Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.

Why the Change Matters

This update is part of Sam’s Club’s broader effort to make shopping more convenient for its growing membership base — and to stay competitive with other warehouse retailers like Costco and BJ’s Wholesale Club.

For many members, the extra hours mean more breathing room on busy weekends. Families can get errands done before the day fills up, and small business owners can restock supplies without feeling rushed.

“Members asked for more time, and we delivered,” Zapata said. “We’re committed to making the Sam’s Club experience better every day.”

Michigan Members Applaud the Update

Many shoppers in Michigan say the expanded hours will make their weekends easier to manage. Early risers can now shop before the crowds arrive, and those with evening plans won’t have to squeeze in a last-minute trip before the doors close.

With this move, Sam’s Club continues to strengthen its reputation as one of Michigan’s most convenient and customer-focused warehouse chains — offering not just great prices, but also more time to enjoy them.
