Actor Satish Shah Passes Away

Veteran actor Satish Shah, best known for his unforgettable role as Indravadan Sarabhai in the cult sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, has passed away, leaving behind a rich legacy of laughter and warmth.
Shah became a household name in the early 2000s with his brilliant comic timing in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, where he played the witty, sarcastic yet lovable patriarch opposite Ratna Pathak Shah, Rupali Ganguly, Sumeet Raghavan, and Rajesh Kumar. The show continues to enjoy a devoted fan base even years after its original run and brief 2017 revival.
Beyond television, Shah’s filmography includes some of Bollywood’s biggest hits — from Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge to Main Hoon Na, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Om Shanti Om, Fanaa, and Akele Hum Akele Tum.
He was married to designer Madhu Shah, and the couple remained deeply admired for their warmth and humility.
Tributes poured in from across the industry. Director Farah Khan shared, “Rest in peace dearest Satish. You were a joy to know and work with.” Filmmaker Karan Johar also remembered the actor, writing, “Satish Shah, Om Shanti,” along with a photo of him on Instagram Stories.
Fans and colleagues alike remember Shah not just for his roles, but for his infectious humor and kindness that lit up every set he worked on.
