Mike Rotunda

WWE legend Barry Windham has revealed emotional and heartbreaking news about his long-time friend, tag team partner, and brother-in-law Mike Rotunda — confirming that the WWE Hall of Famer is currently in hospice care.
Windham, who teamed with Rotunda as part of the classic tag team The U.S. Express in the 1980s, shared the update during a heartfelt conversation with veteran wrestling journalist Bill Apter.
> “It’s kind of tough right now,” Windham said, visibly emotional. “You know, Mike is in hospice right now. I love that family.”
A Wrestling Family Bound by Legacy and Loss
Mike Rotunda, remembered by millions of fans for his iconic characters like Irwin R. Shyster (I.R.S.) and Michael Wallstreet, has been a respected figure in the wrestling industry for decades. His influence extends through generations — as the father of late WWE superstar Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda) and current performer Bo Dallas (Taylor Rotunda).
The news of Rotunda’s declining health comes just over two years after the tragic passing of Bray Wyatt in August 2023, a loss that deeply affected both the Rotunda and Windham families.

Reflecting on Wyatt, Windham described his nephew with warmth and pride:
> “He was such a good person. Never got in trouble his whole life. Just a good boy.”
Friendship That Spanned Generations
Windham also looked back on his long history with Rotunda, recalling how their friendship began in the early 1980s before Rotunda even entered the WWE spotlight.
> “We met in Toronto in ’82. From the first moment, it was like we were old friends,” Windham shared. “When he showed up in Florida, we hit it off like we’d known each other forever.”
He fondly remembered the simple but lasting advice Rotunda once gave him early in his career — “slow down” — something Windham still carries with him today.
A Message to Fans
As the interview came to an end, Barry Windham took a moment to address wrestling fans directly, asking for their support and prayers for his ailing brother-in-law.
> “It’s been a great ride,” Windham said. “I just want everyone out there to pray for Mike.”
Bill Apter echoed the sentiment, closing with, “Pray for Mike Rotunda. We love you, Mike.”
The Wrestling World Responds
The wrestling community continues to rally around the Rotunda family, offering messages of love and strength. WWE has continued to honor Bray Wyatt’s creative spirit through subtle nods and ongoing storylines — including the return of the mysterious ‘Uncle Howdy’ character, portrayed by Wyatt’s real-life brother, Bo Dallas.
As fans around the world send prayers and positive thoughts, Barry Windham’s words serve as a touching reminder of the deep bonds that connect wrestling’s greatest families — inside and outside the ring.
